Blogging is Not the Answer

Last night I ran across a post at Get Rich Slowly about dealing with unemployment through blogging. When I was daydreaming about blogging a few months ago, I really did think that I could just starting writing and instantly there’d be a fan following and the money would start rolling in. Who wouldn’t love to read what I write? The more I looked into it and communicated with other bloggers, it doesn’t seem likely that I’ll be making any significant amount of money. In fact, the odds are against me. 9 out of 10 bloggers fail to make it to their 6th month. Ok, I made that number up. I don’t even except to make money the first six months. How is someone suppose to deal with being laid off through blogging especially if they have a family to support, let alone themselves? Maybe if they were 16 and living at their parent’s home. Here’s the link to that article:

Good luck. You’ve entered a crowded field with a lot of personal finance bloggers, but it can be done…if I can, anyone can. It simply takes a lot of work, dedication and realizing the first year or two you aren’t going to be making much. If you really have the passion, then you’ll get through that first year which is the hardest.
